You’ve heard stories about bad mothers in the past, and this one is one of the worst. A Manhattan school worker felt that she needed another week of vacation in Costa Rica. So, instead of trying to get the time the honest way, she told a “tiny little lie” – that her daughter had died and she needed the time off.
Joan Barnett, who is a parent coordinator at the Manhattan High School of Hospitality Management, told the whopper of all lies by stating that her daughter died during spring break of this year. She even went as far as having her other daughter call the school to say that her sister had died of a heart attack, even providing a fake birth certificate.
Barnett eventually lost her job because her story didn’t hold up. There were so many holes in it that administrators eventually figured out that she wasn’t telling the truth.
