Written by SAN BERNARDINO California — A San Bernardino street gang member has been sentenced to 35 years to life in prison for attacks that killed three people and wounded three others.
The 25-year-old Bryant Urias was sentenced Wednesday under a plea bargain. He received more than five years off the sentence because of prison credits and time served.
He pleaded guilty in August to voluntary manslaughter and attempted murder.
Prosecutors say Urias went on a five-month shooting spree in San Bernardino in 2005 and 2006 that killed two men and a 16-year-old and wounded three people, one of whom remains on life support.
Prosecutors say there was no specific motive for the attacks.
Urias was arrested in March 2006 at a home where he’d been hiding after a nearly three-hour standoff with authorities. If California keeps up the pace they are going at they need to start building new prisons because of over crowding.
